The story of An Ice Cream Prayer
It was the hottest day of the summer. Maryam sat on the doorstep and fanned herself with her hand. "I wish I had an ice cream," she said.
"Have you asked Allah?" said her grandmother. Maryam laughed. "Can I ask Allah for an ice cream?" "You can ask Allah for anything," said her grandmother, "big or small. Every good thing comes from Him."
So Maryam raised her hands and made a dua for an ice cream. Then she waited, and waited. Nothing happened. She was about to give up when she heard a tune from down the street: the ice cream van.
Her grandmother bought two cones, one for Maryam and one for her little brother. Maryam took a big cold lick, closed her eyes and said: "Alhamdulillah."
